Students Considered for Admission
- Children with ADD, ADHD, Non-verbal Learning Disabilities, Language
Processing Disorder, Tourette's Disorder, Fragile-X, Regulatory Disorders,
Tuberous Sclerosis and related conditions.
- Children whose difficulties with organization, planning, motivation,
social or emotional development and information processing are not being
met by other facilities.
- Students with Asperger's, Autism or PDD and related disorders that
affect social development, who demonstrate the potential for independent
social functioning.
To benefit from Lionheart, children need to have verbal skills and be able
to work in small groups. We look at the functional developmental levels of
each child rather than their diagnosis. These areas include auditory or
visual processing, language or speech, fine and/or gross motor planning,
self-regulation and relatedness.
Most of these children have previously been enrolled in public or private
schools where their needs simply could not be met, or they have had a
comprehensive home program and are now ready to broaden their learning
environment and be part of a social group.
