NEWS & EVENTSLionheart student qualifies for citywide spelling bee Lionheart student, Matthew Plunk, was selected to progress to Round 2 of the Georgia Independent Schools Association middle school spelling bee. In Round 1, student winners from 58 schools were given a 100 word spelling test, and only 15 were selected to move on to Round 2 based on their scores on that test. The test included words like jurisprudence, tonsillectomy, pericardium, and maestro. Matthew said, “I studied really hard and it was soooo worth it.” Matthew’s mother, Jennifer Plunk, was present for the announcement and said, “Matthew was BEYOND excited when his name was called. When he heard his name, he jumped up and said ‘That’s me, that’s ME! I made it! Mom! I made it!’ It was priceless… True, authentic joy.” “Best Event Yet” “Best event yet” is how everyone has described the 2012 Lionheart Auction held February 4th at the Atlanta Athletic Club.
